The Region

Central burgundy is a region renowed for its gastronomy, art, culture, diverse scenery and leisure activities.

To the east is the stunning unspoilt beauty of the Morvan hills and its National Park where you can simply relax, explore or participate in the huge range of leisure and sporting activities offered from fishing to white-water rafting. Dijon the capital and Beaune retain much of their original Ducal splendour and Germanic heritage. There are numerous palaces, museums and galleries to explore as well as the unique architecture to enjoy.

South from the Chateau to Beaune is the route of the "Grands Crus" where you will find some of France's finest vineyards. To the north Vezelay is a UNESCO world Heritage site with Auxerre the gateway to Burgundy's 600km of leisure canals.

Nevers to the west is the region’s centre for arts and culture. St-Amand is the heart of the region’s pottery industry with its numerous artisans and artists. For the motor sports enthusiast, Magny- Cours, which also hosts a world-class go-kart circuit, is 45 mins drive from the castle.
